The Great Songran Day this year is falling on Saturday 14 April 2007 corresponding the Year of Pig. Its symbolic is a woman of water element nature, before B.E. 1369, intercalary month in Lunar Calendar and normal day in Solar Calendar.
Songkran Queen is named Mahothon Thevi, wearing bangle and water hyacinth, diamonds and eating meat as general food, the right hand is holding Chakra and the left hand is holding a trident, sitting on the back of peacock.
In this year, Sunday is the “Thongchai or Lucky Day”, Monday is “Athibordi Day”, Saturday is “Ubat or Bad Luck Day”, Wednesday is “Lokawinat or Destructive Day”. Since Songkran in this year is falling on Saturday, it shall inspire raining 400 ha (the word to call the shower of the rain) as divided as 40 ha in human world; 80 ha in the oceans; 120 ha in Himmabhan Forest; 160 ha in Chakkrawan Mountain. There were 6 Naga spraying water, the prediction about food is called “papa” the rice paddy in the farm shall be 1 part productive and 9 parts destroyed and there shall have appropriate water.

Venue : The Royal Ground (Sanam Luang) and around Rattanakosin Island
Activies : Songkran Celebration of the 4 Regions (southern section of Sanam Luang near Wat Phra Kaeo)
11.00-23.00 hrs.: Bathing of Buddha images from the 4 regions, local food and dessert making demonstrations, and cultural shows from various regions.
18.00-23.00 hrs.: Light and sound show, “The History of Songkran”, cultural shows and various forms of entertainment.
Paying worship at 9 royal temples around Rattanakosin Island. Wat Phra Sri Rattanasasadaram (Wat Phra Kaeo), Wat Chetaphon (Wat Pho), Wat Suthat, Wat Saket, Wat Bowonniwet, Wat Chanasongkram , Wat Rakung, Wat Arun (Wat Chaeng), and Wat Kalayanamitr. Participants will receive a Passport of the 9 temples at each public relations point of each temple. After receiving the stamp from all the temples, a coupon for a lucky prize will be given.

Banglamphu community at Santi Chaiprakarn Park, Phra Athit Road and Wisut Kasat. The Songkran Festival at the southern section of Sanam Luang will be the central point of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) between 8-15 April, 2007, 11.00-23.00 hrs. There will be an opening ceremony on 8 April at 18.00 hrs, and at the northern part of Sanam Luang will be the central point of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The bathing of the Phra Phuttasihing image will take place in the centre of Sanam Luang.

Venue : All around Chiang Mai
Activities : A procession and bathing of the Phra Phuttasihing, pouring of water on the elderly to receive their blessing, demonstrations of local entertainment, splashing of water, and a walking street.

Nakhon Si Thamarat Songkran Festival
Date : April 11-15, 2007
Venue : Wat Phra Boromthat and Si Thamma Sokarat Park, Sanam Na Meuang, I-suan Hall, and Phra Narai Hall, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Activities : Wat Boromthat: tradition of paying worship to the Phrathat at Songkran. Sanam Na Meuang, Si Thamma Sokarat Park, I-suan Hall, and Phra Narai Hall: Miss Songkran procession, Miss Kradan procession, and the Brahmin swinging ceremony, local sweets and food festival, free kanom jin festival, and splashing of water.
